Modifying an Open Textbook: What You Need to Know

While most open textbooks have the legal license that allows modification and remixing, the real-life work involved can sometimes be difficult because of technical issues. This workshop focuses on the fundamental aspects of editing open textbooks and will help you assess the effort, expertise, and technical tools needed to do the work. We will go through the steps needed to complete an OER project that involves remixing of various open textbooks and other types of OER. Participants will have an overview of the different open textbook formats and how to combine, edit, and remix all, or portions, of these materials to create a new, accessible OER. If you are working on an OER Award project or planning on using an OER for your course in the future, this workshop is for you.
