Historical Reactions to Immigration: One Book #OneLCC Scholarly Lecture Series

Listen and learn about historical reactions to immigration in America with LCC History Program faculty David Siwik.

From its founding, the United States has seen successive waves of immigration. Historically, reaction has been mixed. While some Americans have openly embraced immigrants as part of a melting pot culture, others have pushed hard against the steady stream of new arrivals. Both positive and negative, reaction to immigration has been an important part of American history. This lecture explores historical reactions to immigration, focusing on both positive and negative perceptions, and the resulting changes these reactions have brought about in public policy.
